Heritage Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation successfully finished its three-phase expansion project in December. The $4.5 million project broke ground on May 21, 2021, and was successfully approved by the state in December.

The first phase of the expansion project was the construction of the Schwebel Family Wing, resulting in 12 rehab suites with private restrooms and showers. The second phase added a 2,000 square foot therapy gym, rehabilitation solarium, veteran’s courtyard, therapy mock apartment, and therapy office to the Schwebel Family Foundation Wing. Finally, the third phase converted 16 rooms with eight bathrooms into 11 totally private rooms, which maintained the licensed 72 bed count. Prior to the expansion project, the 72 bed facility had 42 private rooms, 16 rooms that shared one bathroom for every two rooms, and seven semi-private rooms.

Heritage Manor’s goal remains to provide the highest standard of home-like senior living. Guided by Jewish values, they intend to serve the community at the highest levels.

“The improvements we made bring Heritage Manor to the forefront of senior care delivery,” said Eric Murray, executive director of senior services. “This allows us to provide the best care for our residents in a critical time. The world has learned from the pandemic that private rooms are one of the best paths to keep our vulnerable population safe. And as we look to the future, we know that we are prepared for our residents’ needs.”

Heritage Manor has provided excellent care for members of the community at its Gypsy Lane location since 1965. It has higher than average nurse staffing ratios. The full-service care facility, which has a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, offers short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, respite care, adult day services, and outpatient therapy. It is the only Veterans-Administration-approved provider of long-term care in Mahoning County. One third of its residents are veterans. It is open to everyone, regardless of faith.
