Heritage Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Introduces Expanded Rehabilitation Facility

Heritage Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation is introducing an expanded Rehabilitation facility. The facility has a 2,000 square foot therapy gym with brand new equipment. In addition, a team of skilled rehabilitation specialists with over 30 years of combined experience offers physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

Rehabilitation at Heritage Manor provides exceptional care and therapy services for joint repair or replacement, cardiac recovery, stroke and other neurological impairments, Parkinson’s and other degenerative diseases or disorders, chewing and swallowing issues, fall intervention and prevention, communication problems, and much more.

Personalization is the key for every resident going through Rehabilitation at Heritage Manor.

“Our therapy staff develops an individualized care plan, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, focusing on our patient’s needs,” said Becki Cope, director of rehabilitation, “Whether the goal is to improve the ability to perform daily living tasks, safety with mobility, or the patient requires help with swallowing disorders, our experienced and caring staff is here to help each individual become as functional and independent as possible. Our new and state of the art therapy department contains a variety of modern equipment, including the VSTBalance System. This automated fall risk assessment tool identifies gait and balance issues, allowing targeted therapy treatment.”

The goal of all short-term residents is success at home, and discharge planning is a critical step in the process. This starts with the opportunity to practice home routines in the mock apartment.

“The mock apartment is important for our homegoing residents because we can recreate live and functional activities to put people through so they can experience what life will be like in their own homes under the oversight of a therapist,” said Eric Murray, executive director of senior services.

An individualized home assessment enables the resident to return to the resident’s home with their therapist. It allows for accurately evaluating risk areas and goal adjustments before leaving Heritage Manor. This provides for next level care that prepares each resident for the best possible outcomes.

“To make a difference in someone’s life, you just have to care, and when caring for others, you make all the difference,” Cope says.
